We found “Mini Coop” hanging around Chase Field during media day at Phoenix SX, so we caught up with the Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha star to get his thoughts and feelings after round 1.
Jessica: Cooper Webb is here with us to discuss a little bit about what happened last weekend in Anaheim.
Webb:It was a little rough. Practice went really well for me. I was able to qualify first and then the main. I had some crashes that rather put me back in seventh, but I’m looking to improve this weekend.
I’m going to go ahead and take it back to the Branson National about 3 years ago because that’s actually where I am from and that was the first time I had ever saw you on a bike. I personally can say this for sure, you have some speed. Is there anything while you’re out there that you’d like to improve on or work more towards rather than your speed?
For one thing, just try to get my starts. That’s one thing we have worked on this week. It has kind of put me through a bad situation a time or two throughout my career so I need to get my starts a little better and I think we will be good.
This being your second year and now your second race of the season, are you more relaxed?
Yea, it is a lot more relaxed out here I guess you could say. I was pretty nervous in the previous year but going into this year being the second year I’m coming in a lot more confident and I’d say I’m a lot more ready and I’m looking to do well. So I kind of think that changes everything and I’m just excited to go racing again.
Cooper Webb himself right here definitely has an awesome team behind him good luck to this year’s Supercross season.
Webb: Yep! Thank you.
