Race Report: Nitro Arenacross Tour - Springfield

Springfield, MO – Tanner Young may not have been able to win back his Arctic Cat Nitro Arenacross Tour points lead Saturday night after losing it Friday night to Addison IV Emory in the 450 pro class, but he gave it up with a bang, to the family jewels that is. In the heat race Friday night, Young went down hard and bruised one of his boys. Despite the injury, Young was able to finish third in the main, but the pain and swelling increased overnight, so Young sat out Saturday night. Adam Gulley, Sean Hackley, Kyle Hussey all took wins in the pro classes over the weekend.

250 Pro Main Event Saturday Night

When the gate dropped Saturday night in the 250 Pro Main Event, Wright City, Missouri’s Adam Gulley raced to the holeshot ahead of Carter Stephenson and Gage Mast. Stephenson challenged Gulley early on and even gave the front-runner a little tap with the front wheel in the corner before the start straight. However, Gulley seemed to maneuver through the lapped traffic better and distanced himself from Stephenson. Meanwhile, Gage Mast securely settled back in third. When the checkers came out, Gulley had the win by ten bike lengths.

The Arctic Cat Nitro Arenacross Tour is owned by Motorhead Events, LLC.  The Nitro AX Tour started in 2007 as a grass roots effort to give MX racers a place to expand their skills indoors to get away from the harsh winters of the Midwest. The series has organically grown into one of the largest Arenacross Tours in the United States due largely to it’s over 600 entries per weekend and their award winning Intro shows and high entertainment show quality. Today the Tour covers eight states from November to March, pays out $70,000 in Pro prize money and entertains 1000’s every night.  www.nitroaxtour.com
