MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 28, 2017) - The 36th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by Lucas Oil returns to the popular Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee this coming week, July 31 through August 5. Alongside the world's largest and most prestigious amateur racing event is a full slate of special events and nighttime activities scheduled to take place.

After completion of youth and amateur rider registration on Sunday, July 30, the activities kick off with the annual Oakley Golf Cart Parade at 6 p.m. CDT, followed by the Red Bull Mini Moto for industry mechanics at 7 p.m. on the start line.

Practice takes place Monday, July 31, please refer to the schedule HERE for the detailed breakdown of the practice divisions and times. The event will officially begin with the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Opening Ceremonies and riders meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Lucas Oil Arena.

Andrew Short will demo the brand-new 2018 Honda during intermission at 1 p.m. on Tuesday., August 1. Then the Lucas Oil Drive in Theater takes place at the Lucas Oil Pits at 9 p.m. MXers for Jesus will present a Chapel Service with Reverend Kevin Cozadd in the FMF Pit Area at 7 p.m. with FMF Karaoke immediately following at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2.

Thursday, August 3 is jam-packed with activities including Nashville Recording Artist Kelli Johnson providing music on the beach at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Fifteen-time champion Ricky Carmichael will be signing autographs at the Cometic pit at noon. Motoplayground will host the infamous Sidewinder Finals on Thursday night at 8 p.m., and up-and-coming country music artist, Ryan Griffin, will take the stage in the Lucas Oil Arena at 8:15 p.m.

On Friday, August 4, the Onsia Sound Art Women's Professional Motocross riders will be available for autographs at 8 p.m., with the Yamaha/Moto Tees Talent Show at 8:30 p.m. in the Lucas Oil Arena. Wrapping up the week will be the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Award Ceremony on Saturday, August 5 at 4 p.m. with the crowning of 35 National Champions.

There will be numerous activities taking place throughout the week, Camp Loretta's returns as a day-camp designed for children ages five through 10 operating daily Monday, July 31 - Friday, August 4 from 10 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Also, Fuel Ministries, Team Faith and Fellowship of Christian Athletes are partnering together every evening Saturday, July 29 - Thursday, August 3 to offer family fun games for all ages near Lake Loretta.

The National class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a three-moto format, taking place over the course of a week. Participating riders have previously raced and qualified at Area Qualifiers and Regional Championships to participate in the National.  

There will be 46+ hours of live online streaming coverage that begins on Tuesday, August 1 through Saturday, August 5 on RacerTV.com, and two one-hour highlight shows featuring the event will air on NBC Sports Network on Saturday, November 11 at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 23 at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Highlights: Washougal National

The ninth round of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship featured the annual visit to the scenic Pacific Northwest and legendary Washougal MX Park. Near perfect temperatures and a massive crowd provided a stellar setting for the Peterson CAT Washougal National, in which both Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Marvin Musquin and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy posted back-to-back victories in the 450 Class and 250 Class, respectively. Musquin was dominant en route to his second straight 1-1 sweep, while Savatgy emerged with an unexpected victory following a wild final moto in which four riders sat within a point of the overall win.

Spring Creek National Pro Motocross Highlights

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship came off its second break in action for the 2017 season with its annual visit to legendary Spring Creek MX Park. The La Crescent Wine & Spirit Spring Creek National provided a tough track for the eighth round of the summer, but it wasn't too much for Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Marvin Musquin, who enjoyed the best outing of his 450 Class career en route to his second overall victory, highlighted by his first ever 1-1 sweep. In the 250 Class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy returned to the forefront of the field and emerged with his second overall win of the season.

Top-Notch Medical Assistance Slated for AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 20, 2017) - MX Sports is proud to announce the extensive medical plan lead by Fit-N-Wise Sports Medicine Team, a Wise Medical Health System service, for the 36th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by Lucas Oil.

Under the direction of Event Medical Director Dr. James McGhee, the Fit-N-Wise Sports Medicine Team will join forces with the on-track Infield Medical Team, consisting of local fire fighters, paramedics and EMT's with motorcycle riding/race experience, and the Facility Medical Team provided by American Medical Response (AMR), a nation-wide ambulance service.

"We are honored to be the official medical team for the 2017 Loretta Lynn Amateur National," said Fit-N-Wise Motocross Trainer, Jeremy Durrett. "Our goal is to ensure that riders have a comprehensive and professional medical service available trackside. We are excited to offer more specialized medical attention than has ever been available for amateur riders competing at this level. Our orthopedic experts aim to provide top notch medical services to our motocross athletes." 

This extensive medical team will be joined by Ricky Rickords and the Brett Downey Safety Foundation, as well as key MX Sports Pro Racing technical staff, to advise track flaggers and provide infield safety monitoring. Together the medical and infield staff at the AMA Amateur National will provide unprecedented medical assistance for national competitors.

In addition, Air Evac Lifeteam will once again be onsite to provide air medical transportation in the unlikely event that a rider sustains injury that requires an air flight transport. Air-Evac Lifeteam creates a secondary insurance that will ensure that riders or family members will not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to an air medical transport from the Ranch.

The qualifying system culminates in the National Final (first week in August) hosted annually since 1982 at the home of country music star Loretta Lynn in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. Nearly 22,000 racers attempt to qualify in 35 classes for the 1,446 available positions at the National. Christened "The World's Greatest Motocross Vacation", the National event serves as a launch pad for some of the biggest names in professional motocross and supercross, including Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Ryan Villopoto, and Ryan Dungey.
