Dawson Ryker has qualified for the largest amateur motocross race in the world, the 34th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships presented by AMSOIL at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Ryker took on over 22,000 hopefuls from across America to earn one of just 1,482 qualifying positions. Here is a little bio on our local hopeful.

I am so pumped to make it to Loretta’s my first year on a big bike, running Schoolboy 1. It’s a tough class with a lot of competition.
What does it mean to you to be competing on the biggest stage of Amateur Motocross?
It’s a big deal to me since I know how fast the other riders are.
What are you doing to prepare? What is your daily routine?
Right now, I am training with Brad and the crew at Club57. We get up into the gym in the morning, run motos and sprints mid-day and then follow up with more gym work. After supper, it is time to just hang out withthe homies.
What is the most enjoyable part of racing motocross?
Having success that you have worked hard to achieve.
What is something people do not know about you but should know about you?
I like to make MX edits and take MX photos.
What has been your most memorable moment racing thus far?
Being able to go to the Carmichael Farm and ride with Ricky. It was a memory maker.
What is the best advice you have ever been given and by whom?
Live every moment to the fullest. Jay Moriarty (Chasing Mavericks)
What is the worst advice that someone has given you and by whom?
Don’t think that I have gotten any bad advice. LOL
What do you believe are your key strengths?
Holeshots and good cornering.
What motivates you to do your best each time you are on the track?
I want to do my best and win.
What have you learned from your mistakes out on the track?
You always have to push forward and not dwell on the mistakes when you come off the track.
What is your greatest achievement outside of motocross?
LOL I am obsessed with MX. I don’t think that I can function outside of MX.
What are you looking for in terms of motocross racing?
A career within the industry and chics. lol
Favorite pre-race meal?
My Mom’s spaghetti or chicken nuggets and mac and cheese.
Best bike you ever raced?
I enjoy racing my YZ125.
